I am Dr Balla Sylla, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry Analyst of Labaqua Group. With more than ten years of experience in analytical chemistry, I play a crucial role in the Dr Rautio’s group research operations. Indeed, I am responsible for the identification, quantification, and characterization of fatty acids from variable samples collected in different campaigns of Dr Ratio research group and the external collaborators. As key responsibilities, I operate and maintain the GC-MS instrumentation (troubleshooting and routine maintenance). I extract and derivatize fatty acids from complex matrix related to aquatic ecology and other, develop and optimize analytical methods for the separation, detection and quantification of the samples (Fatty Acids Methyl Esters, FAMEs). The second part of my work is to interpret data and to generate detailed reports for the collaborators and research team.
